STRUCTURAL LOAD TESTING
Empirical offer both static and dynamic load testing for various structural elements where standard calculations and assessments are either not possible, or where a further and more comprehensive understanding of the elements strength are essential to ensure these withstand the required design loads.
Each load test is unique to each specific project and include the instrumentation, loading and monitoring of the structural behaviour of the element under testing. Empirical engineers have significant experience in this field and a wide range of testing methods are available, from standard testing, including standard barrier tests to full scale load testing of floor slabs.
Empirical offer a full service to our clients which comprise temporary works design and implementation as well as full-time monitoring during testing. Our innovative methods minimise risk and ensure accurate measurement of the loading and behaviour.
Load tests are typically only undertaken after calculated assessments using the best available methods and information - such as results of material tests, recorded information and materials, maintenance and strengthening records - are conducted and identify the structure to be non-compliant with the current assessment standards. In such circumstances, load tests can be employed to provide information to supplement reliability analysis.
In addition to our structural load testing services, Empirical can offer monitoring or instrumentation services to enable environmental and physical measurements to be undertaken to meet our clients requirements. This includes remote monitoring or data logging devices.
