At Empirical, our qualified engineers provide access solutions to facilitate our inspection and investigation services. This reduces the need for our clients to appoint various sub-contractors and ultimately allows for complete control of projects. Examples of access solutions we can provide for our projects or our clients to enable there own inspection services are detailed below.

• Industrial Rope Access – Industrial rope access inspections, investigations and testing employing IRATA trained qualified engineers and technicians to provide a high standard of service to difficult access structures. Where conventional access methods aren’t possible or economical, Empirical adopt rope access methods to enable delivery of the most difficult to access projects and provide a cost-effective solution. Examples may be high mast inspections, bridges with specific weight limits, high rise buildings, embankment, retaining walls, and jetties.  

• Mobile Scaffold Towers – Provision of mobile scaffold towers (aluminium and GRP Zone 1 access towers) employing PASMA qualified engineers and technicians to provide a high standard of inspection, investigation, and testing service for high level access requirements. Empirical staff are proficient and competent in the use of mobile scaffold towers offering a costs effective access solution to our clients. Further to standard mobile scaffolds Empirical can supply specialist mobile scaffolding for example in areas of limited access and stair access.  

• Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPS) - Provision of mobile elevated working platforms (MEWPS), including spider, static/mobile booms, truck/van mounts and scissor lifts. For our projects which require additional reach Empirical have significant industry knowledge alongside our UK wide approved machine suppliers so we can offer the best and most cost-effective access solution for all our projects.  Employing IPAF qualified engineers and technicians to provide a high standard of inspection, investigation and testing service for high level access requirements. Empirical staff are proficient and competent in the use of MEWPS offering a cost effective and reliable access solution to our clients.  

• Underbridge Inspection Units - Provision of specialist underbridge inspections units. Empirical have significant industry knowledge alongside our close working relationship with UK and overseas specialist underbridge access suppliers. Our approved machine suppliers offer the best and safest access solution for specific projects. With our close working relationship Empirical can provide the full underbridge access solution removing the need for the client to manage and appoint various sub-contractors.   

• Confined Spaces – Confined space inspection, investigation and testing employing High Risk Confined Space and Rescue trained qualified engineers/technicians. Our high safety standards ensures safe access for the most difficult confined access structures. Empirical employ engineers and technicians trained/competent in confined space works, not only can we offer confined space teams to facilitate our projects we can offer our own standby rescue teams.  Empirical adopt the highest of standards & procedures ensuring the safety of our staff whilst working in higher risk environments and offer the full access solution to our clients for confined space entry and rescue.  

• Safety / Works Boat – Provision of RYA powerboat and DEFRA Rescue trained staff providing water access solutions and our own safety boat for working in water projects where required.  

• Floating Works Platform - Provision of floating work platforms (such as modular pontoons) thus creating a suitable and safe working platform to enable the inspection, investigation and testing of structures for projects on water.
