CCTV SURVEY

When conducting inspections of structures, it should be acknowledged that there are some locations which can only be made visible through the use of CCTV surveys.

At Empirical we offer a wide range of solutions to view a number of hidden structural elements:

  • Masts: From an external only inspection, critical hidden defects can easily be missed from the internal face, particularly where water ponds at its base. Empirical engineers can utilise borescopes along with pan/tilt cameras to view and inspect internal elements enabling accurate data capture of the internal condition.

  • Bridge Box Sections/Cells: Whether it be concrete or steel, many small box/cells forming bridge decks can only be viewed through CCTV surveys. Empirical use CCTV crawler units to aid inspections which provide a live image back to the inspector enabling the hidden internal condition to be assessed.

  • Cavity Wall ties: During wall tie investigations Empirical use borescopes to confirm locations of ties and assess the quality of installation and condition. For more information see wall tie investigations.

  • Structural Drainage: Damaged or blocked drainage on bridges or buildings can cause serious damage to the asset. Empirical can conduct surveys using wide range of CCTV units to locate issues within drainage systems.

  • Pipe Culverts: Pipe culverts can be inspected for defects and blockages using crawler units or wheel mounted drain camera systems dependent upon their diameter. These surveys will feed high-definition images back to the inspector making it a safe and cost-effective methodology to assess the internal condition of pipe culverts. Empirical can also offer specialist drone units to undertake the inspection of pipe culverts for more information see drone inspections.
