SLIP RESISTANCE

Testing the slip resistance of in-situ floor finishes can be achieved through carrying out pendulum slip tests in accordance with BS 7976-2:2002+A1 Parts 1-3, and BS 13036-4.

Such tests accurately replicate the concept of a ‘heel slipping’ on a floor surface by swinging the arm of the slip test pendulum unit from a set height.  A rubber slider positioned at the base of the pendulum arm contacts the surface, and dependent upon how much resistance is encountered the arm will swing, leaving the pointer in position against the scale (Pendulum Test Value). This test can be carried out under dry, wet, and contaminated conditions (if required).

Slip Testing can be offered within all sectors, however as a RISQS certified company Empirical can offer these services to Network Rail and LUL stations.
